“Research and evaluation can be powerful tools for community-based programs in the gender-based violence (GBV) field. Systematic inquiry can help advocates examine how well their programs are working, identify issues affecting their communities, and better understand survivors’ strengths and needs. However, these tools also have a history of being used to harm marginalized communities, overburden GBV staff and organizations, and reproduce systemic inequities.

La investigación y la evaluación pueden ser herramientas poderosas para los programas comunitarios en el campo de la violencia de género (VG). La investigación sistemática puede ayudar a los intercesores a examinar qué tan bien están funcionando sus programas, identificar problemas emergentes que afectan a sus comunidades y comprender mejor las fortalezas y necesidades de los sobrevivientes. Sin embargo, estas herramientas también tienen una larga historia de uso para dañar a las comunidades marginadas, sobrecargar al personal y las organizaciones de VG y reproducir desigualdades sistémicas.”
